Twins is a Hong Kong-based Cantopop duo created in 2001 by mogul Albert Yeung’s Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), with elaborate attendant publicity. It consists of two young ex-models, Charlene Choi Cheuk-Yin (蔡卓妍) and Gillian Chung Yan-Tung (鍾欣桐), who by birth is originally Chung Ka-Lai. Charlene Choi, also called Ah Sa / Sasa /Char, was born in Canada on November 22, 1982. Gillian Chung, also called Ah Giu / Ah Gill / Gill Gill, was born in Hong Kong on January 21, 1981. Twins started their career in the summer in 2001, and they are well-known for their first song “Tutorial School of Love” . Although they have become hugely popular they have often been criticized for lack of singing ability. In the 2006 Hong Kong Entertainment Awards ceremony Charlene tearfully acknowledged that there have been criticisms of Twins’ singing abilities and that she hoped that she could improve in the coming year.
